Lagos Finds: What A Day At Cafe Blu Looks Like
We spent some time at a calm café in Victoria Island, and here’s what a slow day there could look like for you.
The idea was simple: find a place where one could slow down in a city that can be as stressful as Lagos. Spending some time at Cafe Blu gave us the chance to switch off for a bit and enjoy a slower pace, away from the usual rush.

Morning: getting there
Cafe Blu is on Kofo Abayomi Street in Victoria Island, inside the Blue Rock building. Outside, it’s a busy Lagos street like any other. But inside, the atmosphere feels just right, with warm pendant lights hanging over the tables and a wall of green plants running along the room. It has the kind of energy that makes you want to stay a little longer.
If you’d like a light breakfast, coffee is a great place to start. You can also order a chai latte or matcha. Pair your drink with the famous brioche French toast, served with fresh berries and maple syrup. The portion is generous, so you can take your time with it.

Midday: work, reset, socialise
By late morning, you’ll notice people settling in with their laptops, books and friends. The Wi-Fi actually works, which makes it a great spot for remote work, client meetings, getting that one task you’ve been putting off all week done, or simply catching up with someone.
And when you get hungry again, you can get quality food that isn’t overpriced. We ordered pasta, fish burgers, chicken wings and drinks.

Afternoon: the poolside
Out back, there’s a poolside area where you can take your drink, sit for a while and just exist. This was our favourite part of the visit. Somewhere between the serenity and doing light work, we slowed down and could breathe properly again. It was the reset we didn’t know we needed.
Before you go: plan for it
Cafe Blu’s prices are fair, but spending a whole day there can still feel like a treat. So, plan for it the same way you would any other treat. Check the menu on their Instagram page and decide how much you’re willing to spend before you go.
Tip: Create an As You Want Pocket on your Kuda app and name it after the day you’re saving for, like “Slow Days”. Add how much you would like to save, whenever you like, with no schedule. When the day comes, you can move the money into your main spending account to enjoy your day.
What we think
It was an 8/10 experience. Good food, a beautiful space and fair prices. If you need a reset or just want a change of work environment, Cafe Blu is a good place to start.
Opening hours and prices can change, so check @cafeblulagos on Instagram before you go.
